Seeing as Cosmic Wonders is a web series comprised of numerous online videos, including main episodes, shorts, and other types, it is the Cosmic Wonders Wiki's duty to display these videos in a comprehensive and clean format. Following this policy should be able to help achieve this duty in a simpler method. Reminder when editing pages to additionally keep them in line with the Cosmic Wonders Wiki Regulations and Rules.

General Guidelines

These are paths you'll most likely want to follow in order to make a page feel less cluttered and more concise.

Be sparing with links

Links are an incredibly powerful tool when creating a wiki database, however it is best to space them out on a page. When placing a link, it essentially is giving a window of opportunity to expand onto a further subject. However by linking that subject repeatedly in a short span of time, it can give the impression of being unprofessional.

Categories are important!

While most pages currently available on the wiki are categorized, it can be a very easy thing to forget when making new pages. Categories can be added to pages without needing to go into the page editor, so if you are reading along a page and see that its missing categories, add them! It'll make sorting everything on the wiki much, much easier.

Main Episode Pages

Seeing as main episodes are the central focus of anything Cosmic Wonders related, these pages undoubtedly must be treated and maintained with the most care out of any page. These guidelines should assist in keeping these pages as ideal as possible.

Keep the synopsis brief

The purpose of a synopsis is not to go into great length over an episode, rather it is to be a small summary of the events of the episode. If a synopsis is too long it could give the impression that the full plot of the episode is unreasonably long and convoluted when that most likely isn't the case. There is no approximate length a synopsis section should be, however keeping it close to a short paragraph per major plot development an episode typically is acceptable.

Make it flash!

You could very easily just fill a page with what happens in the episode and nothing else, and while that is acceptable, the better way to keep attention is to make a page flash. Add small nuances and details when describing. Make it so the reader gets an idea of the mood the scene being described. Adding these details when writing a page shows readers that everyone is really passionate about Cosmic Wonders, and truly does just want to spread it with the world.

No pages for WIPs or Previews!

While it is exciting to see a new preview for the next episode, making a page on the preview seems redundant, seeing as the preview will be part of a finished product. Pages specifically on teasers, previews, or works in progress can easily clutter the wiki and make things harder to find down the line.

Shorts

Shorts are to be categorized separately from main episodes, but are still expected to be maintained to a near equal quality. Typically the synopsis of a short can be held in the opening paragraph, so filling out a page on a short should not take too long.

Keep it concise

A short is meant to be, well, short. It wouldn't make too much sense to make a page on a thirty second video as long as a page on a fifteen minute one. You don't necessarily need to go into every single detail that happens in a short, since they're very simplistic in nature.

Miscellaneous Videos

Miscellaneous Videos could be commentaries, character QNAs, and anything in truth that doesn't fall under the umbrella of episode or short. They still serve as important bits of Cosmic Wonders related media so it's asked that they get treated with the same amount of care.

Clarify what the video is

Seeing as miscellaneous videos are not set as one specific type, it's crucial to clarify exactly what the video covers. Make it apparent as early as possible in the page on what the video is.

Galleries

Galleries serve as a great way to skim events of a video without the need to watch the video itself. However it can be very easy to unintentionally overfill the gallery. This brings in the general rule of thumb when doing a gallery. You typically don't want to do more than 2 photos max per shot. People should be able to fill in the blanks on a gallery themselves, not get a frame-by-frame of the episode.

Transcripts

Transcripts, much like galleries, can serve as fantastic ways to cover events of a video without the need to watch the video itself. Do note that for episodes, transcripts are to be posted on their own separate page that is linked on the episode's page itself. On shorts pages, the transcript is best included on the page of the short itself. As for miscellaneous videos, if there is little to be said about the video itself, or it is not too long, the transcript can be given on the video's page. Otherwise, post the transcript on its own page as is procedure for a standard episode. While galleries can be added through the insert tab on a page editor, transcripts cannot. This makes adding a transcript a bit more of a difficult, but more open task. The simplest method of including a transcript is through inserting a table. Additional rows can be added to a table as needed.

Trivia Sections

Trivia sections are to always be included at the end of a page if trivia is applicable to it. These are just miscellaneous facts that don't fit anywhere else on the page.

Don't repeat yourself

A very simple guideline to follow. Don't add something to the trivia section if it already mentioned at any point earlier in the page. It adds redundancy.

Keep it concise

Trivia is meant to be easily readable, fitting the bullet list format trivia sections are written in. Don't make a trivia post overly long and complicated. If there is a trivia piece that is long but needs to be included, it is best off being included at the bottom of the bullet list.
