Blood elves are the most powerful species of elves, but also the most mortal of them. They are the most similar in DNA to humans, often living and starting families with them.

Blood elves contain an inner fire called from the heart, which doesn't burn them or expel from their skin, but will engulf anything they touch in flames. If a blood elf's inner flame becomes too powerful by calling upon too much, their heart explodes and they die.
Unlike full blood elves, the fire of half elves isn't fully contained and can be expelled outwards. This makes half elves more powerful, but also feared by both blood elves and humans.
